Beautiful little yin yang symbols, hand crafted from yak horn, yak bone, and sterling silver, outside of Kathmandu, Nepal.
Story
Yaks are iconic to the mountainous country of Nepal. They were traditionally used to help carry loads throughout the region, and their milk is used as it is or made into butter and cheese. Yak wool is used to make warm clothing, blankets, and rugs. Yak meat is on almost every menu in Nepal. Their skin is used to build shelters with, and the horn and bone used in a variety of ways.
Desh and his family have run their shop outside of Kathmandu for many generations. The shop is at the front of their family compound, whose entrance was painted with colorful symbols on the 100th year of the family living there. They have been hand making jewelry and collecting antique masks from nearby villages all this time. We love working with such wonderful people, and contributing to their ancient family business!
