Temple Renovation in India

By the time I finally visited this amazing temple complex in 2008, the massive gopurams (ornately carved and painted entrance towers) were covered in bamboo scaffolding for renovation work. You can imagine the disappointment at not seeing this insanely beautiful temple in its full glory. But I did love how you could spot brightly painted gods and animals peeking out of the scaffolding, continuing to keep an eye on earthly happenings...
